Neighborland:
This is an idea I just love: a social network site focused solely on improving the lives of people in your own area by bringing attention to the stuff that needs doing. It's about as grass-roots as you can get: the site puts together all the people who locate an issue in their town, and then you go through and vote on other stuff people have noticed and had something to say about that town, and when things reach critical mass, they help figure out how to make it so.
It's brilliant. We need this to be active everywhere--a sort of community board for the digital age.
